Carol Archer returned to Macao for the first six weeks of 2017, seeing in the Year of the Rooster with old friends and colleagues. The trip also gave her the opportunity to see exhibitions at the Macau Museum of Art and, during a short visit to Taiwan, the Taipei Biennale. Another highlight were the figs of Taipa village, Coloane and Macao.

Preparing for Drawing Breath/ Desenhar. Respirar

During this period Carol worked with colleagues and friends – in Macao, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the United States, Holland and Portugal – to prepare the catalogue for her upcoming exhibition in Lisbon.

Drawing Breath: through branches/ Desenhar. Respirar: por entre árvores is Carol’s first solo exhibition in Portugal. It will be held at the Gallery of Modern Art Pintor Fernando de Azevedo, National Society of Fine Arts (SNBA), located at Rua Barata Salgueiro, 36, Lisbon. The exhibition will run from 5 June until 14 July, 2017 (Monday to Friday 12 noon – 7 pm and Saturday 2 pm – 8 pm), with the welcoming event scheduled for 6:30pm on June 5.

Artist talk at Pearl Jubilee College, University of Macau

On Wednesday February 8, Carol discussed her current body of work and upcoming exhibition with a group of creatively-engaged University of Macau students and professors.
