Ever had a truly inspiring teacher? At 21, having completed a largely theoretical Arts degree in Fine Arts and Philosophy at Sydney University, I did a Diploma of Secondary Art Education at Sydney Teachers College. It was a year packed with art practice, and the highlight was an etching course with master printmaker and painter Pamela Griffith. Decades later, Pamela and I are back in touch. And what better way to start 2019 than with a visit from Pamela and Ross Griffith. The new home of the antique Stella etching press that did such great service at the Griffith Studio and Workshop is now my studio at Markwell. I’m feeling lucky, privileged, and can’t wait to get into lots more printmaking.
